Can we talk about this scene for a minute? Arthur has just found out Merlin is a powerful sorcerer and that Merlin has been lying to him for years and sure, Arthur’s angry and feels betrayed but does he declare Merlin an enemy or accuse him of being on Morgana’s side? No, he tries to send him to Gwen, his wife, the person whose protection means the most to him. Even after the revelation, raw as the news is, he still trusts Merlin and trusts that his heart is in the right place, lies and magic aside.

How often has Arthur complained about magic tainting the hearts of lesser men? How often has Arthur looked on it with distrust and suspicion?

If anything confirms his high estimation, his implicit love and his faith in Merlin, it’s this moment.
